Hello friends, today marks exactly 40 years since I came to the UK. Why did I come to Camden again today? I want to say that my first job was selling spring rolls here. In a flash, 40 years have passed, and not only have the spring rolls not sold out, but more and more people are selling spring rolls. The Chinese food behind is so delicious. Look, now there are fried noodles, old chicken, and fried prawns. Oh, there are more and more. Back when I was selling on the street, there weren't many Chinese people. There was a guy next to me selling statues of Guanyin and the old Buddha, but he ended up becoming a Buddha himself and I couldn't find him anymore.

This is the life of the working people; all the street vendors are foreigners. There are Indians, Chinese, Pakistanis, Spaniards, but no British people. Where have the British gone? They are begging; they would rather beg than work. This world has all kinds of people, and there is inequality. You see, most of the people begging on the street are British. Most of the vendors here are foreigners, and foreigners are hardworking, right?

That being said, in these 40 years, there hasn't been much change in the UK. I was selling spring rolls back then, and now there are just a few more fried noodles and fried chicken. Looking at this, I think back to 40 years ago, and after 30 years, you say life goes by really fast. We really need to think about how we want to live the second half of our lives, right? I have no idea, friends.

I came here today mainly to reminisce about 40 years ago. This stall where I sold spring rolls is now occupied by them. This is my favorite food, you see? It's about two feet long.

Forty years ago, I had no job and couldn't speak English. This market was very famous. At that time, it wasn't that big; it was very small, just up to that intersection. Many young people came here, and there were some punks. Now it is the second largest tourist spot in London. The first is Buckingham Palace. This is the second largest tourist attraction. Every day, 300,000 tourists come to this market. Back then, I was just selling fried noodles and spring rolls with a friend. At that time, a spring roll cost about 20 pounds.

That was truly a very common life. It was really hard. It was a tough life. I was still a student back then, around 29 or 30 years old, and now I'm almost 70. I remember many interesting stories happened back then in London. My life has been very bumpy. I hope you can enjoy the food here.

Forty years later, today, I am back at this market again. This is where I sold spring rolls 40 years ago, and now this Chinese food is truly our cuisine, everywhere. Back then, I was the only one selling spring rolls, and now there are hundreds or even thousands of stalls. Just think about how much has changed in these 40 years.

Moreover, the key point is that I am an ordinary person. Everyone living here is an ordinary person. If you want to compare with someone who has luxury cars or villas, no one can compare with us. No one can compare with our generation. But this is the life of ordinary people, over 95% of the common people's lives. It truly reflects that whether in the West or the East, there are so many ordinary people. Moreover, what I feel about life is that as long as you are happy, don't compare with others. We eat this and we are happy. We can't afford to compare with abalone and sea cucumbers, so you give me this. We don't sell that, do we? So, I am content. I hope that when I come back again in 40 years, I will be around 110, but I probably won't be able to come back. So this video is really precious. As long as we have food, clothing, and happiness, this is our life, nothing else, no other demands.

Moreover, this place was the birthplace of the hippie movement 30 or 40 years ago. All the heads from the US, New York, and Washington came here. The earrings and necklaces were all piercings. These people wanted freedom. They wore whatever they wanted; if you had a designer bag, they would carry a shabby bag, and no one would care. Really, no one would look at you. If you don't believe me, let them try. Because these people have a kind of belief; they think it looks good to dye their hair green or red. They pierce a little, sometimes their noses and ears. They even pierce their tongues. I wonder how they eat. These people live like this; it looks scary, but actually, they are very sunny and kind. These people gather in this part of London, and they all play music. Rock music also developed from here. Now there is a singer that maybe Chinese friends know, a jazz singer named Amy Winehouse, who was very famous and passed away at 27. She didn't sell spring rolls with me; she sang in the bar next to my stall. Later, she became famous, and now her albums are everywhere on the streets.

Every day, 300,000 people come here to play. They are all young people. What am I, an old person, doing here, right? This is a great place for rock and folk music performances, where people from all countries come to perform. Whether it's folk music or rock bands, it's different music.

These are my former colleagues who used to perform; I am old now and no longer perform, but they are still here. There is African music, Indian music, Beatles, rock music, and I also performed here. The key is that each ethnic group has its own style, different instruments, different songs, and different movements. And if you want to take a look, after you come here, you can learn about many countries' music; it's so interesting. The key is that each country has its own unique style. There are electric sounds, and there are also traditional folk music. We have the horse-head fiddle from Inner Mongolia in China. Sometimes there are also erhu players. But there are no suona players. I will practice and come here to play the suona in the future.
