Editor's Note: When we start the pronoun with medium -sized personal data , we hope that someone in the community will share their experience with this function. We ask

I am a strange, non -binary cross -sex, his/his pronouns are in his/his pronouns.

But in the past, I took ZE, Zim, ZIS, Zizel.

People often ignore the pronouns I wrote in my resume, but just call me think of my gender.

Many people say they/they are a good kind attempt. But I actually feel more comfortable to him/he.

Therefore, I am glad to see the medium adding pronouns! It will appear on our profile, when we comment and hang the mouse on our name.

In this article, I will show you how to set pronouns on medium -sized personal data.

How to add pronouns

Note: This is a desktop version for the media. The application version may be somewhat different.

Step 1: Find the settings

Turn to the upper right corner of the homepage. Click your profile picture. In the drop -down menu, press the settings.

Step 2: Go to your profile

In the setting window, click Personal Information. You will see "Edit photos, names, pronouns, short creatures, etc.". Here.

Step 3: Select your pronouns

In the new window that appears, you will see a rectangular field under the pronoun. Start enter your pronouns. You can include up to four. If you can't see pronouns, you can also click "Suggesting others" to ask them.

For example, I enter "he". You can see all the available down menus containing "HE". This includes him, her, she, they and them.

When I entered "I", it showed him, it and Zim.

For my own personal information, I decided him, he, Ze and Zim.

Why is it important

Although many people use a name that is easy to read as the correct pronouns, many others use more gender neutral names.

My name Sieran is a male and female. Therefore, some people even ask me whether I am a man or a woman ... none of the answers. I am non -binary. But I like to use his/his pronouns.

Some people use the names of non -English Saxon. People outside of these people do not know how to decod, and the gender is wise.

Some people use traditionally regarded it as a certain gender name, but in fact their gender is different.

For example, I have a friend named Ein. But he is non -binary, not a woman. Then he went with them and them/them.

Check someone's photos to guess that gender is not the best solution. Not everyone uses their face photos. Some of us are like me, and there is a photo of people who often interpret it as a wrong gender.

When someone calls you with wrong pronouns, even if it is unintentional, this is very unpleasant.

What are the pronouns such as these ZE, Zim?

These are new representatives, that is, contemporary words are not him, she or their standards.

Related pronouns, new generations, and more information about them, please see

English is constantly developing. Some of us don't think he, she or they really express our inner feelings. Therefore, we can use other.

Contrary to the general views, not all non -second -made people rely on their/their pronouns, although most people do this. Personally, Ze/Zim is the closest to my feelings, although I use him, he, Ze and Zim.

Some people cannot understand how I use his/his pronouns is non -binary. I mainly turn to him/him, because few people know how to use Ze/Zim. Many people just avoid using pronouns for my pronouns. It was embarrassing to hear them saying my name many times in a word.

Some allies' friends said that I should defend their pronouns because people should respect them. They mean good, but it is difficult for me to see people struggling in pronouns or just avoiding them. So I gave up and used him/him.

But pronouns are very personal. This is not 1 to 1 rule. If you have certain gender identification, you must use certain pronouns.

Therefore, this is an important new feature in the medium. I am very happy. I can now show my pronouns well on the media, so there is no ambiguity for people.

"I have considered adding pronouns before, but because of the limited characters on our personal information, this is impossible." -

Make the pronoun more obvious

"For non -binary people like me, our pronouns are not obvious, so now people speak easily correctly." -

"Personal pronouns on our personal data page are exciting and an important metadata element, which can be clear and authentic." -

Easy to do
