May 4, 1984 Sunny

After work, I went home, took a shower, changed into a violet outfit, and went to the celebration of the "May Fourth" Youth Day gala held by the Municipal Youth League Committee at the Municipal Second Palace Art Hall.

I arrived a bit early and saw Xiao Qing from the Infrastructure Department sitting idly, so I joined her at the tea seat to chat.

While we were chatting, I was suddenly attracted by the two people who had just walked in. Aren't they the great poet Xiao Chen and Sister Wei Bing? Sister Wei Bing was wearing a bright yellow dress, making her look even slimmer. When they saw me, they happily walked over.

“You both must be good at dancing, right?” I asked with a smile.

“I can't dance at all; I'm just here to accompany her for the performance,” Xiao Chen said.

I asked him about his recent exam for the Open University, and it seemed he was quite confident about passing. This made me think about myself; why didn't I have that kind of motivated spirit? (Later, I also passed the exam, but that's another story.)

It was almost seven o'clock when Director Zhong and Xiao Jie arrived, along with the youth members from various companies in the city.

The atmosphere of the gala was very lively. Sister Wei Bing performed a solo, and our company’s Xiao Yang also sang a passionate song called "My Chinese Heart"… As the waltz music started playing, Secretary Wang from the Youth League Committee came up to me and invited me to dance.

After a spin, I happened to see Xiao Guo dancing opposite me. We usually joke around, so this time we made silly faces at each other. “Chest out, smile bright, glory belongs to the new generation of the 1980s…” The music became lively, the singing continued, two steps forward, and it ended.

Then there were some game segments, and the gala concluded in a joyful and enthusiastic atmosphere.
