July 26, 1984 Sunny
The most pleasant moment of the day is the evening walk, just like now. The sun has disappeared, and there is a gentle cool breeze.
Watermelons are in season, piled high near the market. I have no desire to indulge; during this time, the weather is hot and my appetite is poor, only eating a bowl of rice at each meal, so I look down on these. If it were usual, seeing that bright red watermelon flesh would make my throat involuntarily move, and my hand would reach into my pocket.
As it gradually gets dark, I think of those physics and mechanical drawing assignments, and I quicken my pace. "Slow down!" Fang Gu calls out from behind.
